What a glorious winter’s weekend in Macnamara. Over the weekend we chatted to locals in Elwood, Elsternwick, Albert Park, Caulfield, Port Melbourne and St Kilda East! 🏘️🐕🦺 We spoke with over 500 people this weekend and was joined by Senator Steph Hodgins-May, MP Sam Hibbins and MP Katherine Copsey. It was an incredible weekend!
I had an unforgettable conversation with a mum about her experiences of navigating the NDIS for her child.
She spoke about her frustration with the lack of regulation over service providers, how profiteering corrupted good care, and her absolute determination to see things change (I hope I’ve summarised that fairly).
I know from personal experience that there isn’t a more formidable force than a mum advocating for her child.
I join her in demanding better, and commend @jordonsteelejohn’s incredible work with the disability community, fighting for the change we need.
Conversations like this are how I know there’s no more powerful way to change the world than to start in your own neighbourhood.
